| Red
Clay Estate is
an intimate boutique vineyard nestled in the foothills
of the Mudgee valley, an area renowned for growing premium quality
grapes in pockets of rich red clay soil. The goal of Red
Clay Estate is on crafting wines that capture the essence
of the earth on which its vineyard grows. The result? Intense
and distinctive reds and whites, expressive of the Mudgee region.
Since
the vineyard was first planted in 1988, all of Red
Clay Estate's quality wines have been handcrafted
from handpicked grapes and processed in a traditional basket
press. For Mudgee's smallest winery, Red Clay Estate
is fast making its mark, in particular with its premium reds.
When building the Winery
and Cellar door in 1996, winemaker Ken Heslop had envisioned
a winery that would be of the land, fitting comfortably with
its surroundings. The result is a delightfully rustic construction
from handmade Adobe bricks, using the same rich soil in which
the vineyard was planted. Chosen for its thermal qualities,
it provides constant cool temperatures, ideal for storing
bottled wine.
A visit
to Red Clay Estate is how all wineries should be: welcoming,
jovial, and memorable. You'll soon discover that Ken's skill
and talent extends beyond his winemaking; spinning yarns and
telling jokes that will make your memories of Mudgee indelible!

mentions: Red Clay Estate Winery – the whole place.
The wine was great for the price and the service was delightful
and jocular. If you want to know the fun side to being a winemaker
